Fast driven PDA: Which one you think?

Nowadays, PDAs are becoming so fast and features-rich that they're performing multi-tasking that used to belong in the exclusive domain of the PC. A PDA's feature set is probably the most important factor when it comes to deciding which one is right for you, but how well a PDA performs is an important variable that should not be neglected. Performance dictates everything from how fast a PDA opens a file, run program, execute command to how long the device's battery lasts.

PDAs architecture function is very similarly to a personal computer. They comprise of a processor chip, temporary memory, storage memory and a LCD display; driven by high power batteries. The processor type and speed defines the speed at which applications execute on the PDA.The fastest processor is claimed to be running at 624 MHz. Up to date, there are alot of devices using 624 MHz processor. Among the fastest PDAs:
  • Dell Axim X50v (624 Mhz),
  • HP IPaq Hx4700 (624 Mhz),
  • Blackberry Bold 9000 and Storm ( 624 MHz),
  • Xda Atom Life (624 MHz),
  • Asus P552w (624 MHz)
  • Iphone (620 MHz)

Depending on the operating system, different kinds of processors running at different speeds will be available. For instance, PDAs based on Windows Mobile 6. 0 may be available featuring processors running at different speed compare with the Symbian 9.0 OS at the same processor speed. In term of power, higher the processor's speed, the more battery power it will consume. however, if you talk about blackberry and Iphone, they a very excellent battery performance though equipped with more than 600 MHz processor. Though, modern PDAs are still having sufficiently energy to last throughout the day.

While depending on the processor and OS , Memory also need to considered if you are looking for the fastest PDA. A PDA should have enough temporary memory (RAM) to quickly and easily load the necessary application. Lack of RAM unfortunately results in deploying virtual memory, finally resulting in battery drainage. The minimum standards should be: 64MB or128MB of RAM as basic higher requirements. Any quantity upwards of the figure and the PDA should respond quickly and smoothly. Similarly, storage capacity should provide enough room for installing additional applications as well as saving files created using them.

So, which one you think will be the fastest PDA?

Aha...wait the minutes... There is a PDA who speed more that 700MHz. It is LG-KC1, which equipped with PXA320 application processor, speed 800MHz. But it is not really a PDA, rather it is more likely a smartphone.
